Had to share these 2 photo's

I just had to share these 2 photo's from the wedding. That sunset above - that is real, not a backdrop! Isn't that awesome. I can hear the theme music from Gone with the Wind in the background!

And here are my 3 girls. Don't their dresses with that awesome fall tree behind them look great! And no milkman jokes - yes I have a blonde, a brunette and a redhead!

Aren't these just too cute!

Look at what I've been making for gifts! Miniature thread catchers! I put the rotary cutter next to them so you could get an idea of the size. I'm so excited. They will be perfect gifts and perfect for me to throw in bags and take with me! Aren't they adorable!

Some of my favorite quilts at the show....

Have to share some of my favorite quilts from the show. The above one was SPECTACULAR. Absolutely stunning. And all densely hand quilted. It won 2nd place in the NQA judging for Pieced Bed - Hand Quilted category, and Members Choice for this category. Pieced and Quilted by Denise Groesbeck.

And then there were two amazing Dear Jane Quilts. Just jaw dropping. The above one was also made and hand quilted by Denise Groesbeck. 3rd place in the NQA judging for Pieced Bed - Hand Quilted category.

So you may ask - what got first place in this category? Dear Jane #2! Shar Snellman made this one and it is amazing. The quilting on it is unbelievable. She even dresses up when she shows her quilt and does a lecture on her Dear Jane journey! It is soooo interesting! Not only did Shar get 1st place for this category, she got Best of Show from the NQA judge.

I guess you could get sick of this name - but Denise also had this wonderful Lancaster quilt. This one was machine quilted though - so don't panic! But it did get 1st place in the Bed Pieced - Long Arm Quilted NQA judging category.

And of course one of my favorite quilts because I helped make it for a friend who's parents were sick with cancer and she had gone to live in FL to take care of them. The blocks were from an internet group we belonged to, and I made the Tonya letters on the front and back. I've always loved how it turned out and all the love that was put into it for my good friend. She got the Members Choice for Group Quilt on this one.

Or how about this awesome log cabin carpenter's star! I"ve made this top - but do you think I"ve got it quilted - noooooo. Sharon Wick did an awesome job! She got 3rd place for NQA judging in Pieced Small - Machine Quilted.

How about this unbelievable paper pieced Christmas Star made by Carol Kowalczyk. She got 1st place in the NQA judging for Pieced Small - Machine Quilted. And also got Members Choice for this category.

I think to close this out for today I'll share the Viewer's Choice quilt. Marcia Hilse won Viewer's Choice in addition to 1st place in the NQA judging for Applique - Machine Quilted, as well as Member's Choice for this catgory! Thats all for today!

What a surprise

What a surprise I had today! I showed up at the quilt show to find I had won 3 member's choice awards! So I thought I'd share those with you today. The one above is called Men at Work. It is the old darting birds block, but when you turn the block over what does it look like? A men at work sign!!!

Also got ribbons for my Sunshine on my Shoulders and Strippy Repro Coins quilts!

Had to go to the Morton Arboretum today for a college get together for Emily. Who would ever believe that on Nov 8th in the midwest we would have this bright sunshine and 80 degree weather! Leaves were all off the trees of course, but the place was packed and still beautiful.

Quilt Show Time!

Our guild quilt show is this weekend. And I'm finally catching up after the wedding. So to celebrate I thought I would share some quilts from the show with you tonight. There will be more to follow! Above is my "Cascade Blues". This was a mystery that Laura led at camp a year ago. And my friend Viki quilted it! Isn't it beautiful! The quilts this year were NQA judged - so I was so excited to get a first!

Also got a second place on "Sunshine on my Shoulders".

And another second place for "Not your Grandmothers Log Cabins" which I started in my class with Gwen Marsten a few years ago.

I even got a 2nd place in the hand quilting category for small quilts! This has always been one of my favorite quilts I"ve made. It just makes me smile.

More in the next day or so.......

I made it!

We made it through the day! Holly is now married and starting her new life. Jenna gave the bridesmaid speech and started to cry - that made all of us cry! But it was a lovely day and things went well. Just a few pics - I haven't hadtime to go through them all.

But meanwhile my friend Jody (from Australia) and I (along with her family) have been having a blast! I still have so much to share about the last 2 weeks there too!

Where to start!

I don't even know where to start! My friend Jody and her family and my family are having SO MUCH fun! There is no way I could ever share everything! Above is the most adorable chook pincushion you could ever want - NO ONE is taking this from me!

Went to a brewery in Milwaukee that also makes pop, that was a blast! Their root beer is so good - but the boys didn't like it! They think it tastes like thier medicine in AU!

It has been cold and rainy all week, but we final braved the elements and went to Chicago yesterday to the museum of science and industry. Had a great day just hanging out there. We saw the German U-505 submarine and went into the coal mine! And look at these awesome chicago buildings made out of lego's!

Of course also have shared lots of meals and friendship. I don't want this week to end. Well ok, next week because they are coming to Oklahoma with me for the wedding! Oh and I made these note pad covers for Holly and the bridesmaids. Emily has already informed me she won't touch hers!
